Researcher Aids in Massive Madagascar Conservation Initiative
Labs researcher Steven Phillips collaborated with Wildlife Conservation Society scientists in a Madagascar conservation study.  As a scientist interested in machine learning, Steven developed software for modeling species distributions.  The team used this software to learn to recognize environment conditions that are suitable for a specific species.  The software also helped design resilient networks of protected areas.  The study is a cover story in Science magazine.  Also read more in the press release.

Multimodal Voice Search for IPTV
The Voice-Activated Remote combines the latest WATSON voice recognition and natural language understanding technologies with advanced voice search capability to provide a powerful tool for finding both TV content and movies on demand. Instead of going through an on-screen program guide or pressing up/down buttons endlessly to find a show, you simply press a Talk button on the
Voice-Activated Remote and then speak a search command such as "American Idol" or "Movies with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt".
